The Conservation of the Grand Cafe Sign

Over the past two months we have been conserving a Lead Stained Glass Sign from the Grand Café. In addition to repairing the lead came, replacing some missing glass fragments, repairing numerous cracks and cleaning years of grime and dirt a new metal support frame was created. The sign was in-cased in a new custom maple display frame sandwiched between two pieces of plexiglass. The artifact was transported back to the museum and arrangements were made  to accommodate it in the newly curated period exhibit. See press coverage:
